The fishing area in brief
- Aicher Enns (Aich -Au): approx. 3 km, pure fly fishing area between Assacher bridge and Pruggerer bridge. Structures: trickle stretches, slow-flowing areas, deep channels.
- Trautenfels-Stainach: approx. 3 km from Trautenfels bridge to Sallaberger bridge. 16.03. – 15.09. Spinning, wobblers, spinners, fly, bait fish on the system allowed; then only fly.
- Distance & service: From Zur Gams approx. 18 km (Trautenfels–Stainach) or 30 km (Aicher Enns); briefing/rule information directly via the host.
Fish Species
Brown trout, rainbow trout, grayling, brook trout, pike, bullhead; occasionally huchen and burbot. (Aicher Enns with annual trout stocking according to the operator.)
Season & Best Times
- Section-dependent: e.g. Trautenfels-Stainach with mixed fishing 16.03. – 15.09., then fly-only. Observe local closed seasons/minimum sizes.
- Practice: Clear river sections require careful wading and inconspicuous presentation.
Methods – what applies here
- Aicher Enns: Fly fishing only (dry, wet, nymph, streamer; sinking leaders allowed). Spin fishing prohibited.
- Trautenfels-Stainach: One bait per rod; dead bait fish allowed, natural baits otherwise prohibited; no rolling weights (e.g. Tyrolean wood). From 16/09 only fly.
Removal
- Trautenfels-Stainach: 3 fish/day, of which max. 1 grayling.
- Aicher Enns: 3 fish/day, no grayling. Disgorger & measuring tape required.
